Dear People of Beecroft Presbyterian Church,
2016 is fast approaching and the session is beginning to think about what direction our church life and outreach should go in the New Year. We do not mean just coming up with good event or program ideas, but thinking again about Jesus’ purpose for his church, and lining up our activities with that great purpose.
So, what is Jesus’ purpose for the church? For a start, here is a summary statement:
Jesus’ purpose for his church is that we glorify God,
by building each other up in faith, hope, and love,
and by reaching out to those who do not yet know the Saviour,
with warm friendship,
and a clear, faithful, relevant presentation of the Gospel.
We will need to consider the huge changes in Beecroft demographics. Some doors of ministry will close, but new doors for sharing the Gospel will open. How do we keep relevant, and shine out for Christ’s sake in our changing suburb?
Please pray that the Holy Spirit guide us as we seek Jesus’ direction for his church.
In particular, think and pray about our church worship, pastoral care, Bible studies, Sunday School, youth groups, Prezzie Bees, women’s outreach, morning tea after church, and every other church activity. How can we sharpen and streamline these ministries to more effective at fulfilling Christ’s purpose for Beecroft Presbyterian Church? And where can we find workers and leaders for these ministry activities?
Think, pray, and share your thoughts about ministry in 2016 with a session member or the minister.
Yours in Christ,
