I will be away with Rosemary from 1 August to 19 September. This time consists of two weeks normal holiday leave, one week normal study leave, and four weeks accrued Long Service Leave.
One of the recommendations Presbytery made to Session as a result of their visit to our congregation in June was that I take Long Service Leave at this time. They were concerned about how stress has been affecting my health and ministry. Partly this dates back to our time in Vanuatu. When we returned from the mission field in 2015 to take up the ministry at Beecroft, we did not take sufficient break to deal with accumulated stress from our many years in Vanuatu. My goal in this break is to be refreshed in order to minister well here in Beecroft.
Please note that Long Service Leave funds are held by Church Offices and expended by them to cover the Long Service Leave time.
While I’m away, for any practical ministry question contact Chris Gillan, our Youth Worker, who will be looking after both Sunday services. Lewis Burrough will be looking after the Youth during this time. For any pastoral need or emergency, contact any elder (Rod Best, Margaret Robertson, John Crerar, Juanita Lowe, Colin Llewellyn, Robert Aroney, or Ray Brown), or staff person (Chris Gillan, or our Secretary, Sarah Everett). They will be able to help you find the right person to talk with. As usual, contact the Committee of Management through their Secretary, Lewis Burrough. Thanks to Chris, Lewis, and others who are stepping up to serve in the church’s ministries while I am away.
You are always on our hearts and in our prayers.
