National Church Life Survey: Session has agreed that we should participate in this survey. It is held every 5 years and its data will help us plan for the future of our church, The Presbyterian Church plan for its work across Sydney North and more broadly afield and for others to understand church life more generally. Your opinion will matter in describing this church. Your information will be important. Because of this, the survey will be administered after each service Sunday 13 November 2016. To complete the survey you may need to remain in church for up to 20 minutes after the service and so we request that time is allowed for this purpose.
Beecroft PWA: at the meeting held on Tuesday 1st November, $4,100 of funds were allocated to our Church and the wider work of the PWA. $3,250 was allocated to PWA Standing Committees supporting work in city and country parishes, Letter Box Lessons for children in remote rural district of the state, assistance to Missionaries in Australia and overseas, PIM for Padres working in remote areas of Australia and for assistance for people in the parks of Sydney and families in need. Funds were also allocated for a new data projector in the hall $350 and $500 to the Hall Roof Restoration Fund.
Financial Results for the 10 months ended 31st October, 2016: the financial results for the 10 months ended 31st October has been discouraging with a net loss of $38,164 compared to a budgeted loss of $27,342 – an unfavourable variance of $10,822. Total Income for the 10 months was $200,733 compared to a budget of $204,880 – an unfavourable variance of minus $4,147, offerings for the 10 months were $8,757 below budget offset by increased income from Donations, Hall Hire $4,610. Expenses for the 10 months amounted to $238,897 compared to a $232,897 – an unfavourable variance of $6,675.
Fete: a positive result was achieved for the Fete held on Saturday 5th November. Net income was $10,596.25 compared to a budget of $10,500 – appreciation is extended to Stall holders and everyone who help set-up the stalls and cleared the hall and grounds after the function. Operation Christmas Child: thank you to everyone who has shown God’s unconditional love to a special child by taking a box and filling it. Two containers with 21,000 boxes have now left for Cambodia and another 4 four for Thailand. Please return all boxes either filled or empty by the 20th November. These can be left on the stage on Sunday mornings and I will collect them and take to the warehouse. If this is a problem, please speak to me. Many thanks Ellen McAlister.
Session Planning Day: a planning day for Session will be held in the Lower Hall Saturday 19th November, 9:00am to 12 noon.
Meeting of Small Group Leaders: there will be a meeting for Small Group Leaders on Tuesday 29 November, 7:30pm – 9:00pm, in the lower hall.
Church Membership and Baptism Classes in early 2017: If you have not yet become a church member, and you wish to become a member, or wish to find out what it is all about, you are welcome to attend our church membership class in four sessions, early in 2017. If you want to be baptised, or have a child of any age baptised, then you are welcome to this same class. Please let me, the minister, know, or contact our church secretary to say you are interested. Congratulations to Esther and Andrew Sylvester: on the good news of the birth of their daughter Abigail Elizabeth Sylvester, weighing 3.38 kg, and 51 cm long. Thank God for his wonderful blessing, the gift of this child.
