P.W.A.: Members are reminded that the next P.W.A. Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 1st November (Melbourne Cup Day). Please note that we won’t be having our usual cup of tea – the meeting will begin at 9.30 a.m. in the lower hall to enable ladies who wish to attend Melbourne Cup Lunches to leave earlier than our usual finishing time.
We extend a warm welcome to any ladies in the Congregation who would like to attend the meeting.
National Church Life Survey: Session has agreed that we should participate in this survey. It is held every 5 years and its data will help us plan for the future of our church, The Presbyterian Church plan for its work across Sydney North and more broadly afield and for others to understand church life more generally. Your opinion will matter in describing this church. Your information will be important. Because of this, the survey will be administered after each service on Sunday 13 November 2016. To complete the survey you may need to remain in church for up to 20 minutes after the service and so we request that time is allowed for this purpose.
Sydney North Presbytery: It is with much pleasure that we announce that our Presbytery has sustained the trial for licence of Sung Jin Park. Further it is noted Sung Jin’s appointment as a Pastoral Assistant at Mosman commencing at the beginning of 2017. Finally, on a separate matter, Presbytery elected Juanita Lowe to its Student’s Committee for 2016-17.
Session Report: At this month’s meeting Session deliberated over whether to sustain the elders elected at the recent congregational meeting; considered the outcomes of a planning day held earlier in September and allocated tasks to develop some of the projects relating to spreading news about this church to others in the community. While being very thankful to God for Chris Gillan’s considerable efforts, resulting in a successful Holiday Club, there was a discussion about the role of the Youth Director especially as to the range of activities he should properly be involved with in 2017. Initial planning was also commenced to consider what might be needed to establish a ministry towards university students in 2017. Session agreed to recommend to Presbytery the application of Andrew Sylvester for candidature for Ministry.
Welcoming Kit: Session has now made available for comment, over a 3 week period, material which has been produced for possible use in a welcoming kit to be used in the new unit developments in Beecroft and to provide consistent identity messaging across all of our publications. The same design can therefore presently be seen on our website. The material will also be tested at the forthcoming sold out Connect Women’s event. If anyone has any further comments on the design or content of this material then please forward this to Rod Best as Session Clerk. All comments will then be considered at the next meeting of the welcoming sub-committee of Session.

Operation Christmas Child: Boxes are now available in the hall after Church. This year to help you I have available ‘Starter Packs.’ These contain exercise books, filled pencil cases, toothbrushes, soap and washer, tennis balls, skipping rope (yes for boys too) and a cuddly toy in a bag. This is a good way to get your box started. The cost is $6 (payable when taking the pack) and is in addition to the $9 donation. You can then add to the shoe box to make it a personal and individual gift with a piece of clothing and something special e.g. toy car, wallet, whistle, marbles (not for 2-4-year old’s), jewellery, purse, stickers, postcards of Australian animals/birds etc. Please return your box any Sunday by the end of the month. If this is a problem, then let me know that your box will be coming later. Many thanks for helping to show God’s unconditional love to a child by giving them a once in a life time special gift. Ellen McAlister.
