Upcoming Connect Women Event: Vision Sisters Birthing Kit Assembly, Saturday 4 March, 2:00pm – 4:30pm in the Church Hall. Ladies, please join us for this very worthwhile afternoon. We will hear Yumi Oba & Melanie Trethowan speak on faith and motherhood. This will be followed by an activity assembling birthing kits for women in Uganda where many mothers and babies succumb to postnatal infection. For as little as $3 each, these kits can be supplied to provide basic sanitary items during labour & delivery. We will also look forward to warm fellowship together over afternoon tea. Invitations are available from Sue Brown, Brenda Minto or Hoiva Cheung. Information also available here.
Next Sunday 6 February:
We honour Helen Hill at first morning tea (10:00am) as she retires from many years as active elder.
‘Back to School’ Sunday! Holidays come to an end; children and teachers return to Sunday School; and all church calendar activities resume. We will pray God’s blessing on both students and teachers.
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
We begin a new sermon series based on Genesis. Read the text ahead of time, think about it, ask questions about it, pray for God’s help to understand it. Next week: Genesis 1-4, ‘The beginning of good and evil.’ You read the whole text at home; we will read only a small portion at church. Andy.
Training Seminar on Pastoral Care: Sunday 19th and 26th February, 2:00pm – 4:00pm, in the church hall led by Jill MacGilvray (of St Matthias Anglican Church in West Pennant Hills). If you are an elder, or are caring for a group such as a growth group or Sunday School class, or Scripture teacher, or youth worker, please come together and grow in your ability to do pastoral care. If you just want to grow in your ability to care for others in need, you too are invited to this training seminar. Please inform Andy or Margaret if you plan to come, and we will order for you a book that accompanies the seminar.
Know Your Bible: will be starting on Monday 6th February, 2017, meeting at 1.30pm in the downstairs meeting room. This term we are studying the second half of the Gospel of John. Ladies, if you are free, do come and join us for Bible study and great fellowship. Contact Di Boyd.
